You might think that a child in the kitchen will create more messes than results, but cooking with your child can be fun, educational and will create quality time.  Here is a recipe that is perfect to start your cooking excursion.
Delectable Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies

Ingredients:

1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter, room temperature

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1 egg

1 tsp. vanilla extract

1/2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking soda

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

One 9oz. package chocolate kisses, unwrapped

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.  In a large bowl, cream the peanut butter, sugar, butter and brown sugar.  Add the egg and vanilla extract.  Sift the salt, baking soda, and flour together.  Combine with the wet mixture.

2. Shape into walnut sized balls and roll them in additional white sugar.  Bake 8 minutes, remove from oven, and press a chocolate kiss into each.  Return to oven: bake another 3 minutes.  Makes 37 cookies.
