Buying organic food isn’t just a choice, it’s a lifestyle.  People who buy organic food truly believe that it tastes better than non-organic food.  While the taste is a matter of, well, taste, consider this: organic fruits and vegetables grow more slowly than non-organics, which allows them to absorb more water. Moreover, organic foods are grown in cleaner, more natural soil with a rich and balanced mineral content.  So, not only do organic foods absorb more water, but absorb more nutrients as well, making for better taste, more nutrition, and a longer healthier life.

In 2005 researchers concluded that in non-organic farming, at least 311 pesticides were routinely used during the growing season.   Pesticides are never used in organic farming.  Antibiotics, which may be dangerous to humans, are also used in non-organic farming to help speed up the growth of animals.  In organic farming, antibiotics are never used.  Another interesting fact is that organic farming can help prevent global warming since farmers do not spray their crops; therefore the gases from the sprays don’t pollute the air we breathe.  Finally, no system of farming has higher levels of animal welfare standards than organic farming.
