Work is full-steam ahead for 1-5 interchange improvements near Magic Mountain Parkway thanks to the approval by Metro of five million dollars of additional funding to keep up with rising construction costs.
Those improvements include the widening of the I-5 southbound on-ramp, retaining walls, new water lines and two storm drain boxes. This work is all part of phase two of the 11 phases scheduled for improvements. At least one lane on existing ramps and Magic Mountain Parkway and the Old Road will remain open during this time of road work which is scheduled to be completed by this Fall. Street widening will cause the permanent removal of bus stops on Magic Mountain Parkway west of The Old Road on each side of the street with plans to relocate new stops for both roads.
In the meantime, slow for the cone zone is a rule of thumb as roadway improvements continue.
