I’ve discovered that often times the problem is not found within the seemingly negative circumstance in and of itself that we find ourselves dealing with, but the problem is often found within our perception of that circumstance.  You see our perception determines our attitude.  Our attitude determines our reaction, and our reaction determines the level in which we allow our circumstance to control us.  It’s like the age-old psychological analogy.  Is the glass half empty or is it half full?  Either way you respond the fact still remains that half of the glass has water and the other half does not.  However, one response elicits a very negative attitude, which can ultimately result in a negative conclusion.  The other response can elicit a very positive attitude, and ultimately a very positive conclusion.  It’s all in how you view your circumstance.

I’ve learned that I never fail. I only succeed at finding new ways at how not to do something.  If I look at it as a failure then I stand the chance of getting stuck wondering where, when, why and how I went wrong.  This can ultimately bring about a very stressful attitude and reaction.  However, if I look at it as a success on what not to do, then I motivate myself to keep pressing forward because I’m still learning and I’m still gaining ground by learning what doesn’t work.  Listen, whatever you have been through, you’re better because of it.  Whether you know it or not, the trials that you have experienced in life have taught you more patience, more appreciation, more respect, more perseverance, more character, and have ultimately given you more hope.  Think about it.  I’m sure there is something going on in your life right now, that had this been happening a couple of years ago to the “old you” then your reaction would have been totally different.  Truth be told, the old you would have knocked somebody out for much less than what they are doing to you now.  Little did you know that throughout all of life’s trials, you were getting better because of it.
