Dave Joseph has surrounded himself with beauty and together with his wife, Barbara; he has shared some of that beauty to assist the Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Children’s Cancer through a donation of almost $100,000 worth of artwork.  Dave and Barbara Joseph, owners of the B&R Gallery on Sierra Highway, have been avid supporters of the foundation since 2001, attending fundraising events and donating items for auction.  “It’s a nice organization that helps families,” Dave commented when asked why they became involved.  “You have to serve some purpose in life other than making money.  You have to reach out to people who are going through hard times.”

Dave and Barbara are no strangers to hard times.  They have raised two special needs boys and understand the difficulties faced by parents who must find their way through the maze of medical treatments and information.  Both boys are approaching adulthood now, and the Josephs continue to be involved in their treatment and care.

In 1981, while their boys were small, they started the gallery out of their home and for a time Dave was selling art at a local gas station corner.  When they purchased their current location, they started out in two rooms, selling prints in standard frames and soon expanded into the full gallery — specializing in originals and prints with beautiful custom framing.  They now sell locally, nationally and internationally to clients who find the Josephs’ brand of personalized attention and passion for art to be exactly what they are looking for.  Favorite artists at the gallery include: Bev Dolittle, Howard Terpning, Arnold Friberg, Steve Hanks, Thomas Kinkade, Judy Larson, Ron Lesser, Pino, Terry Redlin, Dave Barnhouse, William S. Phillips, Robert Taylor and Stephen Lyman.

Dave and Barbara enjoy the well-deserved reputation for providing superior service to the experienced collector, and making the art world accessible to the general public. They have made it their goal to present a little bit of everything at the gallery so that anyone can find something of interest.  Displays range from one of the largest collections of Bev Dolittle originals to actual guitars which are they themselves pieces of art!

The Michael Hoefflin Foundation plans to use the proceeds from this artwork to fund a variety of services.  Through this generous donation, the foundation will be able to provide families with grocery, gas and phone cards, support groups, family entertainment activities, counseling and tutoring.
