One of the things I love most about my work is the opportunity to meet people who are living their dreams.  I recently talked with a phenomenal woman named Traci Smith, who lost 325 pounds on the Lindora program and has kept it off for more than five years.  Traci achieved her goal not through surgery, but by applying the principles of the program and learning how to eat better and move more.
While Traci’s incredible journey has been a long and sometimes demanding one, she accomplished her life-changing weight loss by remaining focused and by making healthier choices, over and over and over again.  She took responsibility for her actions, and she made major changes in how she lived.  As a result, Traci says she looks and feels better than she has in twenty years.

With rare exception, the lives we live, and the bodies we live in, are the direct result of the choices we’ve made.  Sure fate sometimes intervenes, but for the most part, the choices we make about the foods we eat, the activities we engage in and how we handle everyday stress create the results we get.  While the bodies we’re born with depend on our genes, the bodies we inhabit as adults are the ones we’ve earned through a lifetime of habits and actions.

If you’re engaged in any behavior you know isn’t in your best interest such as smoking, drinking, overeating, gambling, drugs, too much sun or too little sleep, ask yourself whether you’re prepared to pay the price later in life.  If that price seems high, perhaps the time to change is now.  Later may be sooner that you think.

Whatever you want to accomplish, start today.  A friend of mine once lamented the fact he’d spent years procrastinating about taking sailing lessons.  There was always a reason not to make time to do something he had dreamed of doing since childhood.  One day, it dawned on him, “Tomorrow never comes.”  If you’ve seen too many of your tomorrows become yesterdays, today is the perfect day to take that first step toward achieving something you really want.
