Have you accepted the stereotype that money management is a man’s game?  One that women are not suited to play or be good at?  Many of us have.  Why?  It may have something to do with the fact that many of us grew up watching our fathers handle the family money.  I know that I did.

Whatever your upbringing, for many women it never occurs to them to take an active role in their finances.  Far too many have decided early on that when it came to money they would remain on the sidelines.  Some say things like, “I’m not good with money”, “I’m not driven by money”, and “Money doesn’t make me happy” or “Why bother, the more you make the more the government takes” and so on.

As a woman today, it may be time to stop watching and start participating.  There is no getting around this so-called money game.  This game is very real and can have serious consequences for you and your family.  After all, money can affect most every aspect of our lives, from our daily lifestyle, education, retirement, and to the contributions we make to your community.

The fact is that many of us really don’t have a choice.  Most of us are playing the money game, whether we want to or not.  The real question is — are you winning?

Some people unfortunately are not.  Why?  Maybe, no one ever taught them the rules.  How can you ever win a game or even do it well if you don’t know the rules?  Maybe once in a while you luck out, but you certainly don’t want to risk your financial future just on luck.

So ladies, if you are still on the sidelines, it may be time to get in the game.  Have you ever sat down with a financial advisor and created your personal financial strategy?  If not, now may be the time to add a financial advisor to your winning team.
