It’s August, and that means the kids are going back to school! No more sleeping in late, lounging by the pool, and enjoying the laid back routine my whole family effortlessly fell into just two short months ago. For me, back to school is a mixed blessing. While my days are once again my own (sort of), my evenings are far more hectic. Whether it’s running to soccer practice, piano lessons, helping with homework, or any combination of the three (or more), there just aren’t enough hours in the day. Not only will my time soon be limited, but my pocket book will be too. The fact that everything is growing more and more expensive — from auto fuel to zucchini — makes you wonder, “How am I going to do it?”
One easy way is to meal plan, grocery shop, and prepare all of your meals for the week at a prescheduled time, like Sunday afternoon. This allows you to budget both your food expenses and your nutritional intake, making your diet more efficient and effective. With this plan, you will minimize impulse buying and eating, multiple trips to the grocery store, spoiled raw food, and expensive restaurant meals. This methodology is the premise behind my personal chef business; this is how I save my clients both time and money while improving their health significantly.
No matter what method you use, I feel that sitting down as a family each night is vital. To that end, Savoring Thyme is offering a new service called “Family Thyme” where, with 24 hours notice, we deliver a home-cooked, family-style meal to your door by 6 p.m.
