If you have silver fillings you do! Amalgam fillings leak a poisonous gas called mercury. All silver fillings leak mercury and the amount increases upon stimulation like chewing food, grinding your teeth or drinking coffee. Mercury vapors attack the brain and central nervous system causing chronic fatigue, multiple sclerosis, depression, migraine headaches, and autoimmune problems to name a few.
There is so much controversy around the subject of amalgam fillings. Are they safe? What is great is the amount of information out in the media for you to do your own research before you decide what kind of fillings you put in your mouth. An alternative option is composite resin. It is conservative, no mercury, does not corrode, bonds to the tooth, doesn’t cause cracks in the teeth, and it matches the color of your teeth. What a great option thanks to the evolving research to bring better and healthier products to our communities.
Please review the research done by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology at www.iaomt.org titled smoking teeth-poison gas. The FDA, WHO and CDA/ADA associations also have websites with different opinions.
