There are several things you can do to help keep your spine healthy.  Here are four simple ways:  posture, movement, strength, and balance.
Posture:  To most people good posture simply means sitting and standing up straight.  While this aspect is true, proper posture is also about being aware of your entire body.  When we are properly aligned, our bones, not our muscles, support our weight, reducing effort and strain.  The most immediate problem with poor posture is that it creates chronic muscle tension.  The big payoff with proper posture is that we feel healthier, have more energy, and move better.  Chiropractic care can help provide you a better opportunity to maintain your posture.

Movement:  When the joints and muscles in one area of the body do not move the way they should, other areas of the body are forced to compensate.  This creates a significant stress on those areas that soon leads to pain and inflammation.

Compensation leaves the body in a very unstable condition and will continue until the body can hardly move at all.  This is how a person comes to suffer pain with the slightest movement.  Maintaining mobility is critical in order to live free from pain and disability.  Maintaining good mobility is not difficult, but it does not happen on its own.  This can be achieved to a great degree through stretching and exercise.  Most people find routine chiropractic adjustments to be very beneficial.  These adjustments help to improve range of motion and flexibility.

Strength:  Good muscular strength allows your body to be upright and move properly.  Your chiropractor can be an excellent resource for good rehabilitative exercise routines.

Balance:  Muscles that are not in balance and contracting in the correct order can result in increased mechanical stress, which can lead to pain.  Simple exercises can be done for the purpose of re-establishing normal coordination.  Chiropractic adjustments to the affected area will help to correct the mechanical stress and bring balance.  This new balanced, coordinated control over our muscles and joints will allow good body mechanics.

Your doctor of chiropractic is experienced in determining the cause of your pain.  An in-depth examination will be conducted and further diagnostics may be required to determine the cause of your pain.  You should have your condition checked today.  Chiropractic is an excellent resource for creating a care plan to help you throughout the healing process.
