“With Eyes Wide Open” will feature over 30 color photographs by local award winning photographer Sandy Fisher.  After a second bout with cancer, Sandy decided to answer the creative muse that had been calling her since she was young and focused her efforts on photography and painting.  With the same positive spirit that helped her battle cancer, she views life and the world as being full of breathtaking joy and beauty if one is really present in the moment and takes the time to fully observe. “I truly believe that a great photograph begins with the ability to see beyond the norm into the infinite beauty and mystery of the subject matter.  I try endlessly to notice the fascinating scenes and overlooked details that exist in nature and on our planet; sometimes in my very own backyard” states Sandy.   With a fresh perspective, and the use of dramatic natural lighting, the images will draw the viewer closer to take a more intimate look. A bounty of unique earthy elements, environments and compositions from her many travels are evident in this inspiring exhibit. “My hope is that viewers will become refreshed, renewed and as filled with a sense of wonderment as I am by the splendor and majesty of nature,” commented Sandy.

Although primarily a self taught photographer and artist, she developed a natural eye for composition as a result of being surrounded by intriguing colorful layouts, eye catching designs, and the smell of paint as a child.  Her father, Richard Earnest, who inspired her creativity and imagination, was a commercial artist and teacher of sign graphics for 26 years at Los Angeles Trade Tech.  Sandy has received several awards in photography for the past three consecutive years at the Santa Clarita Artist’s Association’s (SCAA) “Art Classic” and has also received an award for her painting.  Also, Sandy is a passionate advocate for furthering visual art in Santa Clarita and has served on the Board of the SCAA for over three years; currently completing her second year as President.

The public is invited to a free reception on Saturday, December 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Canyon Theatre Guild located at 24242 Main Street (formerly San Fernando Rd.) in Newhall.  The exhibit will also be available for viewing through December 21, while the play “It’s a Wonderful Life” is showing.
