Communities across the globe will be joining in The Compassionate Friends⨠12th Annual Worldwide Candle Lighting on December 14, 2008. The Worldwide Candle Lighting is in memory of all children. The Santa Clarita Chapter of Compassionate Friends will be hosting their annual Worldwide Candle Lighting Ceremony at the Canyon Country Park in Canyon Country, at 6:30 p.m., on Sunday December 14, 2008. Please come and join us as we honor the memories of our children, siblings and grandchildren.
The Worldwide Candle Lighting is held every year on the second Sunday in December, at 7 p.m. in every time zone. As candles burn down in one time zone, they are lighted in the next, creating a 24-hour wave of light that encircles the globe.
“The World Wide Candle Lighting gives all bereaved families a special day each year to remember a beloved child who lives on in their hearts,” said Pat Loder, executive director of the Compassionate Friends.
In loving remembrance, members of the Santa Clarita Chapter of The Compassionate Friends (TCF), an international self-help support group for families grieving the death of a child, will join together in lighting candles at the Canyon Country Park, at 7 p.m. Prior to lighting the candles, at 6:30 p.m., we will have a special program, including live music, songs, and poetry. The Santa Clarita Chapter would like to invite our community to join us for this special event.
Please join this moving tribute and help families realize they are not alone, and that their child of any age, grandchild, or sibling are remembered during the difficult holiday season.
