It appears most of our questions concerning the election results are just about all answered.  Of particular interest to us in the Santa Clarita Valley would be measure S.  Measure S addresses the environmental issues related to the use of automatic water softeners.  It passed easily and is a statement in itself on how we feel about protection or resources for our future generations.  The impact is as follows.
1. All automatic water softeners in the Santa Clarita Valley inclusive of Stevenson Ranch and Castaic, must be removed.
This applies to all automatics whether you use salt or potassium.

2. The ordinance will take effect on January 1, 2009 at which time the rebates will be reduced by 25 percent of what is currently being offered.

3. Full compliance by June of 2009.  Violations will be prosecuted as a misdemeanor with fines up to $1,000.

The voters have spoken and now it is time for us to all to comply and take advantage of the rebate money now.  It is possible that the rebate amount will be reduced periodically until June of 2009 at which time no money will be offered.

The Sanitation District has a formula they use to calculate the rebate amount.  I would be happy to answer any questions regarding the rebate program and the legal alternatives.  We can still have the quality of water we want, be in compliance with the new law and be kind to our environment.

Please call me.  I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the new ordinance and get you started on the rebate process.  I can handle everything for you from start to finish.

Thank you and good health to all.
