Is a car accident an “accident” if it is avoidable?  By definition, an accident is “an undesirable or unfortunate happening that occurs unintentionally and usually results in harm, injury, damage, or loss.”  As leaders in the driver training industry, we know many car accidents are avoidable and preventable, which makes them a crash not an accident.  Through awareness, education and training, we can reduce the number of car crashes, especially with inexperienced young drivers.

The more we research the driver training process, the more we realize there needs to be a complete culture shift in the way society looks at driving and road safety as a whole.  We have become multi-tasking “experts”, even when we are behind the wheel.  That simply has to change.  We must put safety as a priority, especially with the younger at-risk drivers.
Do you remember when they really started to reinforce seatbelt use?  Do you remember thinking that seatbelts were a nuisance or perhaps even uncool to wear?  Can you imagine getting into your vehicle and not wearing your seatbelt today?  Whether it’s the annoying ding-ding-ding sound your car makes until you snap the belt into place, or, if you are like me, your kids don’t let you get out of the driveway without your seatbelt.  Seatbelts save lives, which is why we all wear them.
In that same manner, we want to contribute to a meaningful and fundamental shift with the way we look at driver training.  In a society where driver’s education can be obtained over the Internet, more than ever, young drivers can benefit from the preventative techniques taught at Defensive Driving Academy.  We give drivers the practical skills to reinforce proactive, smart driving.  The goal is simple: To create educated, thinking drivers through advanced hands-on training.
