Let’s daydream for a minute and think back to our teenage years.  Now look in the mirror.  What do you see?  Smooth skin and glowing cheeks — the face of a baby.  What was your skin regimen back then?  Did you cleanse with Noxzema like me or maybe you were fascinated by the new Stridex pads.  Sadly we had no idea how we would long for the days when we didn’t worry about wrinkles, worry lines or enlarged pores.  Back then a small pimple seemed like a big deal!
Now that we’re older and our skin is no longer how it once was, the media wants us to believe that the skin of our youth can be purchased in a jar.  Who are they kidding?  Yes, skincare products can enhance our appearance.  But they can never provide the lasting results we so fervently seek.  Truly healthy skin is a direct result of the care we give our bodies. Beautiful skin starts from the inside out.  Follow these tips for healthy, glowing skin with lasting results:

• Read the ingredients in skincare products before purchasing them.  Just because you recognize the name brand doesn’t mean that it’s good for you. Healthy ingredients equal healthy skin.  To find which ingredients are best, get a copy of Dying to Look Good by Dr. Christine A. Farlow, D.C.

• Become familiar with companies that are truthful.  Some companies claim to use natural and organic ingredients when in fact they don’t.  It’s up to the consumer to check out all claims by manufacturing companies.

• Respect and protect your skin.  It’s your largest organ.  Remember that anything you put on your skin is absorbed into your blood stream (just like the patches used for birth control and smoking).  If you don’t want it in your body, don’t apply it to your skin.

• Eat nutrient dense, organic foods.  Radiant skin begins on the inside.  Anything you feed your body will show results in your skin and your health.  Feed it well and your skin will boast!

• Smile.  Use exercise, stress reduction, relaxation, and fun as ways to bring a smile to your face.  Nothing looks nicer on your face than a beautiful smile.
