This year my wife and I will celebrate 30 years of marriage.  We were married very young (she was 20 and I was 21) and had absolutely no idea what it took to make a marriage work, nor did we understand our respective roles and responsibilities.  Thank God for his grace and kindness towards us, for he was the one who kept us together and enabled us to grow and prosper as a couple.
One of the passion points that we share together is a commitment to helping people build happy and long-lasting marriages.  Over the past 30 years, we have come to understand by experience and Biblical teaching, many of the foundational practices and philosophies, which help to ensure longevity in marriage.  Staying married takes work and a strong relationship with God, but it also takes a practical knowledge of the working aspects of how to live together and build a family.  That is why we provide support to young couples and experienced couples alike, on a variety of topics such as communication, love language, finances, spirituality and sexuality.  The church has to be able to teach, preach, model and instruct in all of these areas, because the health of marriages or the lack thereof affects the church and our society.

At Santa Clarita Christian Fellowship, we have a very dynamic Marriage Ministry, helmed by Fred and Kimberly Millner.  The Millners and their support team recently held a wonderful pre-Valentine’s Day event at the Odyssey restaurant where couples gathered for an evening of romance fine dining and dancing.  We really believe in enjoying the life partners that God has blessed us with and encourage our members to keep the romance fires going and to participate socially and be active with other believers.  At SCCF we’ve been blessed to have a mix of couples ranging from newlyweds to those who have been married 50 years.  This breath and depth of experience combined with a commitment to living our married lives according to God’s word, provides a powerful foundation for developing the next generation of happy families and healthy couples.
