Every day in my office I speak to patients about their lives and unfortunately the theme seems to be the same: Recession. This is why in my office we try to reduce the “Recession talk” while we treat. We want everyone’s time spent in our office to be a positive, relaxed, healing event for each and every patient. As a result, I started thinking about the little things that my patients can do to save money and stay healthy.
This is especially important right now. None of us want the economy to turn around and yet suffer from the long-term effects of us not maintaining our health during these trying times. After all, problems with our health can last a lifetime, but the economy will eventually get better.
Here are some easy things you can do to save money and stay healthy:
• Take water to go.
• Plant a vegetable garden.
• Split a personal training session with a friend.
• Skip the gym, save money by working out outside.
• Buy healthy snacks in larger sizes.
• Make eating out a treat, not a daily routine.
• Pack your own lunch.
• Make coffee at home, versus buying it at a coffee shop.
• Be proactive in your health. Don’t miss scheduled doctors visits.
• Remember, in the long term, cheaper, faster food can cause long term health problems such as heart disease.
• Keep a positive attitude!
But, the number one way that you can save money and stay healthy: Visit your local chiropractor. Research shows that chiropractic is a cost effective way to improve your health. Chiropractic adjustments work by optimizing the nerve flow in the body. Just like if you were to pinch off a hose the water would not flow correctly, a restricted nerve does not allow the correct nerve flow to travel to your muscles, organs, and joints, thus reducing their effectiveness. Keeping your body aligned through chiropractic adjustments helps to keep your body working at its full potential thus reducing the likelihood of injuries and increasing your likelihood of staying healthy. Remember it costs more money and takes longer to fix a problem than it does to prevent one.
