The   news is everywhere that “times are tough.”  It’s easy to become fearful and panicky about the future.  Homes and jobs are being lost and people are becoming desperate.  During difficult times fear and panic are contagious.  Focusing on within becomes the only choice for balance.  What do I mean by “focusing on within?”

Inside of each of us is a powerful force that yearns for connection.  That part of us waits patiently until “times are tough” and we do become desperate.  Once we realize we have no control over what is occurring and turn inward, solutions do appear and manifest in our lives.  They may not be what we “wanted” but blessings come in many ways and often during the most difficult of times.

When we focus on the “outside” and get caught up in the external drama, we forget that the answers are on the “inside.”  We tend to neglect ourselves and not pay attention to the needs of our bodies and spirits, getting caught up in the illusion.  We put ourselves last saying we “cannot afford to take care of ourselves.”  In trying time, we cannot afford not to take care of ourselves!

This is the time to get back to basics on many levels.  Simplifying and no longer being caught up in superficiality is very helpful.  The external “trappings” are not the secret to peace and happiness.

A healthy body/mind/spirit and strong healthy relationships with others and mostly with ourselves is a key to sailing through when times are difficult.  The problem is, many of us do not know where to start or how to get back to the basic connection with ourselves.

If you or someone you know seems caught up in the drama – whatever drama it might be – working with a trained professional using a holistic approach may be very helpful.  If not now, then when?  Stop putting yourself last.  When your cup is filled and overflowing, only then can you be of benefit to others.
