May is here, and that means many entertaining opportunities: the big one, Mothers Day, on May 10th, Cinco de Mayo, Graduations, Memorial Day, warm weather barbeques and celebrating family events.  In addition to preparing for the big events with the right food and refreshments, step up the entertaining quotient with just the right home fragrances for every room in the house, inside and out.
We are often asked from new customers why their neighbor’s homes always have such a nice scent when they walk in.  They are sent to talk to us on how they can have the same wonderful fragrancing in their “castle.”

Some things to consider: Do you want a traditional candle fragrance environment, meaning lighting candles that complement each other in the different rooms?  We suggest a combination of candles and flame free home fragrance options.  A candle should never be lit in a room where you will not be at all times, like the guest bathroom or bedrooms.

Start with the scent you want the guests to experience when they come in through the front door.  For May, floral or citrus scents work well.  Set up an Archipelago Botanicals Reed Diffuser in the entryway.  They fragrance up to 500-square feet.  Moving into the family/kitchen area, you have the choice of a food fragrance for a deeper fragrance, or repeat a fruit scent.  (Florals don’t work well where food is being prepared or served) Here a scented jar candle fits the bill. Just make sure and light it two hours before company arrives.

In the living room and other formal spaces, do a combination of reed diffusers and candles. The reed diffuser gives you around the clock fragrancing, and the candles move up the scent intensity to the next level when lit.  Make sure on the reed diffusers you are “flipping the reeds” weekly to maintain the intensity of the scent.  You can also put a jar candle in an electric “jar warmer” or under a “candle warmer lamp” where the wax melts and releases amazing fragrance.

In the guest bathrooms and bedrooms, look at electric plug-in diffusers, wax melts or mini-reed diffusers.  Here a “fresh” or “aromatherapy” fragrance family works.  Nothing relieves stress or is more calming than the proper home scents.  Stop and smell the scents of Spring!
