With some of the confusion still remaining in the Santa Clarita Valley, Stevenson Ranch, Castaic, and Fair Oaks Ranch regarding water softening and water treatment, it is becoming more important to choose carefully the company that will serve us and our families. Many companies have come and gone over the last few years, (sometimes months), leaving their customer base without any service or support.
There are a few simple steps we can all take to help us select a company that will serve our needs and be there for us later down the road. With the uncertainty in today’s economic times, promises may be made, all in good faith, and through the fault of no one, cannot be kept.
There are always a few good companies around that are sincere and whose business practices are in good faith. It may be worth the extra time to do some research to find the company that can best meet our needs. Some of what we may want to look for could be the following.
1. A valid CA state contractor’s license. Many home improvement companies are required to have their individual representatives to carry a CA state contractor’s license in the name of the individual representative. Ask to see it.
2. A local address with a history of doing business in the Santa Clarita area.
3. A local phone number that ideally will be answered locally, not out of state or out of the country.
4. Ask if they use employees and not subcontractors. This way you can make sure the person that first came to your home will be available should you have a problem or concern later. It can be frustrating when a different technician or installer returns later for a problem and has no idea what was done before.
5. Finally, specific to water treatment, L.A. County Sanitation District has, on their website, customer feedback from the residents of the Santa Clarita area. This can sometimes be of help in choosing who we would trust to spend our money with on water treatment or anything else for that matter.
