On Friday, April 3, Rio Vista Elementary School hosted their 3rd Annual Environmental Awareness and Career Day, sponsored by the National Hispanic Environmental Council.  It was a fun filled day as Rio Vista students had an opportunity to learn about a wide variety of topics and careers associated with the environmental and natural resources field.  The event kicked off with a fun Opening Assembly where students were very enthusiastic and even entertained guests with a song!  Assemblyman Cameron Smyth was also on hand to speak to the students.  The day continued with classroom presentations and interactive hands-on exploration and investigation activities.   Some of the classroom speakers included Councilwoman Marsha McLean, Roberta Brodsky of Planet Green Recycling, and Maria Guitzeit of the Newhall County Water Board.  The Magazine of Santa Clarita was pleased to take part in this wonderful day!
