Have you ever noticed that when you keep things bottled up inside you feel more stressed, less productive, more anxious and depressed?  Have you also noticed that when you talk about those things with someone it feels like a load has been lifted off your shoulders?

During these tough economic times, we should not shut ourselves off from others. Socializing and talking with others can actually open doors and help solve problems. Everyone can feel stuck at some point and by just opening up, ideas and solutions can magically pop up.

This isn’t the time to neglect your mental, emotional and physical health.  They all work hand in hand either positively or negatively, depending on how you treat yourself as a whole.  There are many ways you can achieve health.  Keep eating healthy.  Yes, you can eat well and eat inexpensively.  Eating “comfort” food or junk food affects your hormones, which in turn can affect how efficiently your body works, which in turn effect how your brain works.  Keep exercising.  You don’t need expensive equipment or gym memberships, just walk around the neighborhood, do sit-ups and push-ups at home. Exercise has been proven over and over again to be of utmost importance in providing oxygen to your brain.  Meditate.  This can definitely be done for free.  It provides a quiet time for you to reflect upon your day, your week, your life or any other situation.  Listen to good soothing music.  Get plenty of rest.  Not sleeping enough adds more stress and makes you less productive.  Get a good physical to make sure nothing else is wrong.  Check your cholesterol, your hormone levels, particularly your thyroid, blood sugar and cholesterol.  If after doing all this and you still feel depressed or anxious, consider going to support groups, group therapy or individual therapy.  Attempt to alleviate matters without medication first.  There are many methods and many skills you can obtain that can help with day-to-day stress.  Take good care of yourself so that you can take good care of your loved ones and your fellow human beings.
