1. You may be injured and not know it.  Most individuals mistakenly believe that they will be in significant pain if they have an injury.  This is not always true.  Some damage can be minor enough to cause minimal to no pain.  After a car accident you should have an in-depth medical history and examination, along with any necessary x-rays.  Getting diagnosed will help to establish the proper course of treatment.  Chiropractic is an excellent resource for creating a care plan to help you throughout the healing process.  This treatment can include ice and heat therapy, adjustments, physical therapy, therapeutic massage, and rehabilitative exercises.
2. Injuries such as whiplash may not show any symptoms for hours, days or weeks later.

3. Medical professionals all agree that the first 72 hours after an accident are the most critical and a time treatment can be the most effective.

4. Injuries from automobile accidents can occur at speeds of six to 12 mph.  Your car might show minimal damage, but your body may have significant damage.

5. A soft-tissue injury can be permanent.  Scar tissue can form in your muscles leaving them less flexible and prone to re-injury in the future, if you don’t receive treatment.

6. If you act quickly you preserve your legal rights.  A Los Angeles attorney listed things to do after an accident and number one on his list was: Get prompt medical treatment; otherwise, you may get benefits denied or limited.

7. It is sometimes covered by insurance.  Following a car accident, your focus may be on costs. After all, your car is damaged.  You may have to pay for a new vehicle, but now healthcare too.  In most cases chiropractic treatment can be completely covered, even if it’s your fault or you don’t have any health insurance.  As previously stated, some injuries are hard to spot immediately following an automobile accident.  Do not wait to get diagnosed until after all of the insurance claims have been filed.

8. If you are not injured, you can sleep better at night knowing you had an extensive exam and x-rays and found out everything was fine.

9. Statistics show the longer you wait for chiropractic treatment after you are injured, the longer it takes to heal and requires more treatments.

10. If you are injured, your injuries usually will not heal on their own.
