Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors: David Henry, MD and Sue Nevius.

With a mission dedicated to raising important funds for the hospital’s capital needs and encouraging positive community awareness of vital healthcare services, community support is the heart of Henry Mayo Foundation’s success.

Henry Mayo’s Foundation board currently has 28 members and 11 advisory members.

“The wealth of knowledge, guidance and support our volunteer board members offer are invaluable to the Foundation and the community,” said Diana Vose, Henry Mayo Foundation president. “Dr. Henry and Sue Nevius are ideal additions and we look forward to their contributions to our board.”

As director of emergency services at Henry Mayo, Dr. Henry is particularly looking forward to the hospital’s upcoming opening of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, as well as the plans for a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and expanded Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.

“Our ER is integrated with many other services at the hospital, and the Cath Lab, NICU, and ICU will greatly enhance our ability to serve our patients,” Henry said.  “These departments play extremely important roles in meeting the healthcare needs of our community and visitors to the Santa Clarita Valley.”

Henry, a New York native who has lived in Castaic for the last seven years, enjoys mountain biking, gardening, and spending time on his ranch in Paso Robles with yellow lab, Lucy.

Sue Nevius, general manager at the La Quinta Inn and Suites in Valencia, brings a great depth of business knowledge to the board. Her goals for serving on the board include helping to identify growth opportunities, as well furthering a cause near and dear to her heart.
When Nevius, a Kansas native, was 16, her brother was involved in a serious accident. She and her family spent agonizing minutes waiting for an emergency helicopter to transport him to a medical facility.

“A helicopter pad is definitely something we need at Henry Mayo. I personally know that it can save precious minutes in life-threatening situations,” Nevius said. “Without it, my brother would not be with us today. I’m very passionate about making sure this happens for my community.”

Nevius moved to Valencia three years ago from Orange County with her husband, Scott. In addition to volunteering her time to the Foundation and community, she enjoys playing golf with her husband.
