The visual art world is all around us everyday! Generally, people think they have to go to an art museum to look at visual art. We live in a visual world and most of what we see has been created by people. Our homes, cars, streets, stores, buildings, clothes, and churches all have to be designed and made for us to use. These things that we use and need are all applied art, there are many different forms or styles of art such as decorative art, fashion, technical art, medical art, art history, computer art, digital art, ethnic art and dozens of other kinds of art.
Fine art is defined as artists who create pieces of two- and three-dimensional art with paint, pencil, collage, printing, and photography.
The Santa Clarita Artist’s Association has created a program titled, “Art Lectures,” for youth and adults to provide opportunities for the public to hear a series of art lectures once a month presented by professional artists discussing “The Creating of a Painting.” The lectures will be held at the Valencia Library Community Room on Sunday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The date for each art lecture will be announced ahead of time on a poster in the Valencia Library. The director of the library is vey excited SCAA is organizing this program and she will advertise the series in the library newsletter. Each lecture will have a different artist presenting and the artist will display their artwork to show the audience how each piece of artwork was created. The art lectures will be held each month until the end of the current year. The goal of this program is to provide an art education learning experience to residents of the community and foster an understanding and appreciation of the importance of visual art to humanity. There are limited opportunities for the community to participate in educational and creative visual art experiences at a no charge without leaving the city.
The Santa Clarita Artist’s Association is the only visual fine arts non-profit in the city and is uniquely positioned to organize such a program via access to artists and knowledge o the fine arts. Plan to come to the one of the art lectures.
