There are many questions being asked of Los Angeles County District regarding their intended increase in sewer assessment rates. Wow, from $14.92 per month to $47 based on a 250 gallon per day average.
As reported in the Signal by Brian Charles, Signal Staff Writer, a meeting about the proposed rate increase erupted in complaints about the absence of the bureaucrats who set the waste-water standards that are responsible for the proposed rate increase. Dave Bruns, Sanitation Districts assistant financial planner had a difficult job explaining how the drastic action taken against automatic water softeners banning their sale and requiring their removal would fail to solve the problem where the chloride limits is concerned. Some would say it is hard to understand how the Sanitation District couldn’t have figured that out prior to requiring removal since it was pointed out to them repeatedly during legislative negotiations and the subsequent Measure S election last fall.
To sum up, Automatic Water Softeners are banned, those purchased legally and ethically since 1977 must be removed and the stated intent to not require two additional sewer treatment facilities has failed! Tough situation for residents of the Santa Clarita Valley who are not even offered an opportunity to vote for the bureaucrats who put these measures in place! Obviously there will be a lot more conversation about this in the coming months.
In the meantime, many residents are choosing to go green with their water treatment choices. Protection of water using appliances and energy issues are leading residents of the Santa Clarita Valley to alternative forms of water treatment. The only independently third party certified product currently available is NEXTFiltration ScaleStop, which is available in the Santa Clarita Valley only through DuPure International. EcoPur provides hard water scale protection and also reduces chlorine, chloramines, odors, herbicides, pesticides, sulfur while it captures bacteria, viruses, cysts, color/turbidity and sediment from every tap in your home!
Despite actions taken against traditional water treatment, which have not worked for the stated intent, there remains a significant need to treat residential water. Consider evaluating the choices available with generous incentives at this time.
