The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association (SCAA) announced a new exhibit at the Tournament Players Club (TPC), which will run until September 1, 2009. “We would like the public to visit the art exhibit in the Newhall Room across from the Oaks Grill Restaurant,” says Jaylene Armstrong, coordinator of this exhibit.
“Here is something for everyone’s taste with a wide variety of themes,” says Mike van der Goes, General Manager and Director of Golf since April 2008. “It’s just a great assembly of art. People like the change from the blasé artwork of the past. These paintings are an expression of the state of mind of the artist—so it’s a broad expression.” It was Mike’s inspiration to combine dining at the Oaks Grille with an art show. Thirteen local artists are represented including: Olga Kaczmar, Jaylene Armstrong, Louis Bertrand, Evie Cook, Garry Friedman, Rosalind Glass, Bob Hernandez, Laurie Morgan, Jackie Nichols, Patricia O’Hearn, Kelly Walston, Don Trout, and Zony Gordon. “We have a change-out of art every three months and people gravitate from the restaurant and golf course to see what is newly displayed. Even though the golf course is private to the 336 members, the restaurant is this valley’s best-kept secret. Tournament Players’ Club is open to the public and the food is fabulous. In addition, we host a lot of corporate meetings, private parties, weddings, birthdays, celebrations and social events,” says Mike.
Tournament Players Club is located at 26550 Heritage View Lane, (near the Valencia Exit off Route 5), Valencia; The Club is closed on Mondays; open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and on Friday through Sunday for breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and then for lunch and dinner until 9 p.m. The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association is in its 20th year and aims to improve the cultural aspects of Santa Clarita by Making Visual Art Visible. Started in 1989, the SCAA is a non-profit organization, and provides opportunities for creative growth to our community.
