Second term President, Terri Cadiente, has chosen “Come Ride With Me” as this year’s theme for Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley. The club’s New Officer Installation took place on July 8 at the beautiful home of Bob and Soroptimist member Diane Benjamin in Sand Canyon. More than 60 guests including club members, Soroptimist guests and local dignitaries witnessed the swearing in of the club’s new Board of Directors as they take over the reins for the upcoming year.
Terri will continue to lead the club in her second term as President. Local representatives from the State Representatives and the State Senators offices as well as City Council members bestowed honors on Terri for her service to the club and community for the 2008-2009 term.
Soroptimist Internatinal Camino Real Region Governor, Cheri Fleming, installed the 2009-2010 Board of Directors, which included Donna Kreutz-President-Elect, Sandi Naba-Vice President, Cyndi Diaz-Treasurer-Elect, Pam Jaffke-Recording Secretary, Karen Ilich-Corresponding Secretary, Kaye Cruger-Director 1 Year and Wendy Smith -Director 2 Years. Janet Hudson will continue in her role as the club Treasurer.
The club is looking forward to carrying out the stated mission of the International organization while continuing its commitment to the community by providing financial support to the SCV Senior Center, Domestic Violence Center, College of the Canyons, Samuel Dixon Family Health Center, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Child and Family Center, Betty Ferguson Foundation and the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center.
Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley is just one of 125 clubs worldwide that make up Soroptimist International. Founded in 1921, in Oakland, Soroptimist is an international volunteer organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls.
