The City of Santa Clarita is informing residents of free home energy upgrades available through the State of California’s Weatherization Assistance Program. Eligible homes can receive numerous free products and services, including insulation, weather-stripping and new doors and windows.
California recently received $185 million for weatherization as part of the Reinvestment and Recovery Act. The Weatherization Assistance Program assists in reducing the heating and cooling costs for eligible families by improving the energy efficiency of homes, ensuring health and safety.
“Through the Weatherization Assistance Program, eligible local residents can upgrade outdated and inefficient energy features in their home, including attic insulation, caulking, heating and cooling system repairs, and other conservation measures, at no personal cost,” said Mayor Frank Ferry. “The Program is a great way to keep family members healthy while reducing energy costs.”
The Weatherization Assistance Program is geared toward low-income property owners and renters, as well as homes with elderly residents, individuals with disabilities, and families with children.
To determine eligibility, residents can contact Santa Clarita’s local Energy Provider, the Maravilla Foundation, at 1-800-906-4651 or visit www.csd.ca.gov .
