The City of Santa Clarita is offering two fall child development classes designed to help prepare community kids for preschool and kindergarten. The classes, My Buddy and Me and Terrific Tots, begin the week of September 14 and last for 14 weeks.
My Buddy and Me is an exciting parent participation class offering parents and children quality play time together with stories, songs, motor development activities and free play. The class, available for kids 2-3 years of age, is held one day per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30-11:00 a.m. or Fridays from 9-10:30 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Enrollment in the 14-week program is $94 for Tuesday classes and $87 for Thursday and Friday classes, which are prorated to incorporate City holidays.
“The City’s classes help ease the transition into learning in a school setting, allowing kids to adjust more easily to a classroom environment,” said Mayor Frank Ferry. “The classes also help kids develop social and educational skills important to thriving at school.”
Terrific Tots is offered for kids 3-4 years of age and will provide children with the opportunity to develop social and classroom skills while making new friends and preparing for preschool. The class curriculum involves play, arts, crafts, music, stories and more fun activities. Classes are held for two hours, twice weekly on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday for $241 per 14 week session. Morning and afternoon classes are available and parent participation is required in up to five classes throughout the 14-week session.
Terrific Tots and My Buddy and Me classes are offered at Santa Clarita Park, located at 27285 Seco Canyon Rd; Canyon Country Park, located at 17615 West Soledad Canyon Road; and Valencia Glen Park, located at 23750 Via Gavola.
