Soroptimist International of GSCV helped to stomp out violence when they held their first annual High-Heel-athon on May 31. There were 125 people completed the 150-yard walk down Walnut Street. A check for $2,500, which was a percentage of the profits was donated to the SCV Domestic Violence Center. In recent months the Domestic Violence Center has been affected by government cuts, their President, Mary Ree reported that the organization had dealt with almost 1,000 cases in the last month and four domestic violence related murders happened right here in the Santa Clarita Valley during the same period.
