What do you get when you gather over 175 talented singers and dancers from Hart High School and let them showcase what they love to do? Hart Show Choir of course!
Hart Show Choir has a long tradition of giving students the opportunity to perform and learn how to use their voices and dance skills in a musical performance setting. Consisting of four performing groups, SweetHarts, Hart and Soul, Hartbreakers and Sound Vibrations, all under the direction of Gail Hart, Show Choir presents four amazing shows a year. Fall concert, which took place in October, typically has a Broadway theme. Choir’s Winter Concert, December 16 and 17, will set the stage for the holidays with beautiful music performed by all four groups. Cabaret Pops Concert, which will be held on the evenings of January 21 and 22, is not to be missed. Entirely produced by the choir students, it promises to be an extremely entertaining evening with all the choirs performing their competition sets along with many solo and small group acts. Cabaret has historically been one of the most fun concerts of the year and everyone will have a great time watching these kids put on their own show.
Our choirs are among the top show choirs in California and will be competing in New York and San Francisco this year in addition to competitions throughout Southern California. Performing at a very high level, both HartBreakers and Sound Vibrations have been awarded Grand Champions in the past few years and hope to once again capture that title. If that’s not enough to keep all theses choir kids busy, Show Choir held their annual Kids’ Clinic in October where they invited Kindergarten through eighth grade boys and girls from throughout Santa Clarita, to learn a song-and-dance routine which they performed for their families at the end of the day. This is one of choir’s most popular events and the kids look forward to it every year. In addition to coming away with a t-shirt to remember the day, the kids were able to experience the joy and excitement of performing on stage! In an effort to give back to the community, Show Choir has always given a percentage of their concert proceeds to help organizations in Santa Clarita, such as the Food Pantry and Hunger Defense Fund. This September, Show Choir was fortunate to be able to help with a Special Olympics event. Over 75 Show Choir members encouraged and cheered on participants at an all-day bowling event at Valencia Lanes. This was the first time that Show Choir had worked with Special Olympics and they hope to do more in the future.
The holidays are right around the corner and Show Choir has plans once again to help celebrate the season, so be sure to include our very own Hart High Holiday Carolers as part of your holiday entertainment plans. Dressed in formal attire or traditional holiday costumes, Hart High Carolers will perform for private parties, corporate events, community celebrations, television and more.
