More than 30 bands expected to participate, including all Hart District Bands
Hart High’s award-winning marching band and colorguard, Hart Regiment, will host its 26th Annual Hart Rampage Marching Band Field Show Tournament on Saturday, November 7, at College of the Canyons.
More than 30 bands from across the state and the southwest, including all six William S. Hart District high schools, are expected to participate in the day-long event, which will be held at Cougar Stadium, located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road.
Rampage is one of the oldest and most prestigious marching band competitions in California. In addition to local high schools—Valencia, West Ranch, Golden Valley, Saugus, Canyon, and Hart—Rampage will feature schools from throughout California and the southwest.
“Every year, Rampage gets bigger and the competition gets tougher,” says Anthony Bailey, band director at Hart, who has been involved with 10 Rampage competitions. “We’re thrilled that it has grown to become one of the most important marching band competitions in the state.”
“If you’re looking for something to do, marching band competitions are fun for the entire family,” according to Paul Cardey, co-chair of Rampage 2009, adding that the tournament is entirely run by Hart parent volunteers. “It’s a great way to spend a Saturday. You can come to all or part of it.”
Rampage will include its signature feature—the largest mass drum-line in Southern California featuring drummers from all the day’s performing bands followed by the awards ceremony.
In 2008, Hart Regiment was named state champion in its division by the Southern California School Band & Orchestra Association. (SCSBOA) for the seventh consecutive year, an accomplishment that remains unmatched by any other group.
Rampage tickets will be available on the day of the competition. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students and children under five are free. For more information, contact Paul Cardey at 818-266-4120 or visit www.hartregiment.com .
