For more than 25 years, the Domestic Violence Center of the Santa Clarita Valley (formerly Association to Aid Victims of Domestic Violence) has quietly gone about providing services and education to women and families, helping to not only end a family’s cycle of violence, but also to prevent future violence.  The Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley is the only non-profit organization in the 200 square mile area that comprises the Santa Clarita Valley, providing services to women and children affected by domestic violence.
From crisis intervention counseling, to education and intervention for abusers, the Domestic Violence Center of the SCV has provided help to hundreds of women and families since the Center’s inception in 1983.  The agency operates a formal shelter site located within the Santa Clarita area and recently moved to a new administration office in the Valencia Industrial Center.

The Center’s mission is to promote and preserve non-violent, non-abusive family systems by adhering to a philosophy of caring for families and serving the community and is guided by the values of integrity, honesty, and positive change.

In answer to community need, the Center provides a range of services including a 24-hour hotline, individual and group counseling, 30-day emergency shelter, food and clothing, response to law enforcement and emergency medical facilities, emergency transportation, counseling for children, court and social advocacy, assistance with restraining orders, and individual counseling, children’s therapy, legal service referrals, community outreach/education and community services programs, referrals for legal and other needs of clients.  The services are provided in both English and Spanish.

Because the cycle of domestic violence crosses race, ethnicity, and socio-economic class and is often generational, the impact of domestic violence services remaining and expanding in the Santa Clarita Valley community is enormous.  The Center is working to bring on additional, much-needed services and programs to meet the growing needs of the Valley.

Over the last decade, the Domestic Violence Center of the Santa Clarita Valley has helped women and their families live lives free of violence.  The need for services continues to grow and community support is essential!
