The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association (SCAA) November 16, 2009 meeting at 7 p.m. will feature wildlife artist, Marty Katon. Animal lovers of all ages are invited to come to this demonstration.
Martin Katon lived with the Native Americans and rescued wild animals that he paints. With over 6,000 paintings under his belt, his work is in galleries such as Merrill Chase Galleries of Chicago, Joe Wade Galleries of Santa Fe, Angel Gallery of Coeur de Alene, Idaho and Toledo Museum of Art. To his credit, Katon’s artwork is in the private collection of Burt Reynolds and Robert Redford, among others.
“Beverly Hills used to pay me to demonstrate oil painting at the Affaire in the Gardens Art Festivals. I would paint a Dutch Masters still life in one hour from memory. The other photo is with Warren Skye, Seneca medicine man, as I researched a painting for a Native American tribal council,” says Marty Katon. Readers may view his art on: http://www.katonart.us/
Katon is a teacher to teens in Santa Monica, took Best of Show in Hermosa in 2005, created for Marine Mammal Commission, supports Wild Horses in Need non-profit organization and painted for Katrina Rescued Dog benefit in Santa Monica.
