The City of Santa Clarita’s 2010 Cowboy Festival is just months away and the fantastic performer lineup and extensive list of activities are already beginning to take shape. Next year’s festival promises yet another unforgettable event filled with authentic cowboy culture and true old west appeal, set against the picturesque backdrop of the Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio.
Saddle up and head on out to the Cowboy Festival on Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25 and step back to a simpler time of chaps, saddles and old-time saloons. This year’s festival will include a mix of new attractions and returning favorites, including dutch oven peach cobbler, trick ropers, authentic gear and a show stopping musical talent lineup. Festival guests can expect to see some of the Cowboy Festival’s most beloved returning performers. Grammy nominated singer-guitarist Don Edwards will hit the stage, as well as Dave Stamey, one of the most popular Western entertainers working today. Sons of the San Joaquin will also head back to the Cowboy Festival in 2010, entertaining guests with their fantastic Western harmonies.
In addition to these exciting returning favorites, the Festival will play host to fantastic cowboy musicians and poets set to make their debut on the Melody Ranch stage. Rusty Richards- a previous 20-year member of the Sons of the Pioneer- will take the stage Saturday morning, followed by Cow Bop- one of the West’s most popular swinging jazz and western bands.
Festival guests will enjoy a real treat when Cowboy Celtic hits the stage- widely hailed for its beautiful evocation of the Celtic music rooted in the campfires in the Wild West. The Quebe Sisters are also set to showcase their refreshing blend of western swing and traditional Texas fiddle tunes.
Also featured in the talent lineup are The Sons and Brothers- one of Colorado’s hottest cowboy bands- and Jon Chandler and the Wichitones. The list of performers continues with Juni Fisher, one of the nation’s top Western Music performers, and Brenn Hill, who’s been writing his great original Western music since the age of 16.
The 2010 Cowboy Festival will also feature some of the finest in Cowboy Poetry. Cowboy poet and humorist Andy Nelson will serve as performer and emcee on Sunday, April 25, and Yvonne Hollenbeck, one of the most published cowgirl poets in the West, will showcase her multi-award winning poetry for audiences’ enjoyment.
In addition to the list of musical performances, guests can expect the full Cowboy Festival experience at the 2010 event. Fun activities are set to take place for guests of all ages, including a Youth Poetry Round-Up and individual poetry and trick roping workshops. Additional, ancillary events are also taking shape for the 2010 Cowboy Festival, set to provide fantastic kick-off for the event weekend.
