Dining, Arts & Entertainment
Thanks from the Star Spangled Comedy
With the holiday season now behind us, we wanted to say thank you to all of the SCV businesses that hired Star Spangled Comedy for their entertainment. As the only locally owned comedy company in Santa Clarita, we love keeping business and dollars in our local economy – this is our community, too! Remember, it’s not just holiday parties that are perfect for comedy – a comedian will make any company event a fun day or night.

Island Flavor
There’s a laid back “vacation” spot located in the River Oaks Shopping Center. It’s called Kona Crisp but don’t be fooled, it’s not a coffee shop or a traditional Hawaiian restaurant.
J.R.’s Comedy Corner
New Year’s Eve! This will be our 11th New Year’s Eve party and J.R.’s Comedy Club, and this year we have outdone ourselves. Every year we bring in the New Year with two huge parties inside Marie Callender’s.

Single in Santa Clarita
I recently received an email from a man who asked how he could meet someone in this area without joining singles’ organizations or going to clubs. As I pondered my response, I thought about why we all feel the need to pair off - again. What motivates us? It occurred to me that defining our reasons for dating can determine success or failure.
Vino 100 Suggests Wine as the Centerpiece of Holiday Traditions
When times are tough, many people turn to the basics in life. Perhaps nothing is more basic than those things that nourish: family, good friends, food and wine. This holiday season families can still enjoy holiday traditions that focus on the simpler pleasures. Even if you’re scaling back, Vino 100 can help make the holidays special.
Fine Dining and Great Food at Mojito Caribbean Cuisine
Ivonne and Rolando Verdecia were getting tired of driving to West Los Angeles and Hollywood for their fine dining fix. So, after decades of combined experience in the food service industry, they ventured out on their own, opening Mojito Caribbean Cuisine on September 29, 2004.
“Savoring Thyme” Saves Time for the Holidays
This month’s review, indeed, was a treat for our entire staff. Shelly Maddocks, personal chef and owner of Savoring Thyme exhibited her artistry and culinary skills to the staff of The Magazine by catering lunch in our office earlier this month. With her goal of “impressing” us, Shelly and Mona Sheppard (a party planner who works with Shelly to stage events) accomplished what they set out to do.
