Bras For a Cause
Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley would like to invite you to the Fourth Annual Bras for a Cause event. On Sunday, October 28, 2007, the event will again take place at the Valencia Country Club. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. the club’s ballroom will be filled with lingerie art, wine, appetizers and fun as people gather to show their support for local breast cancer initiatives. Again this year there will be the inclusion of decorated purses. The decorated lingerie and purses will be auctioned off to the event’s guests. Please consider being a part of this year’s event as a bra or purse donor and attendee.

The Art Classic Brings Fine Art and Music Together in Grand Style
The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association (SCAA) will host its annual Art Classic fundraiser at the College of the Canyons Art Gallery located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Rd., Santa Clarita on October 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This gala event will feature over 120 works of art, with wine, hors d’oeuvres, decadent desserts, live music and both a silent and live art auction. Mayor Pro Tem Bob Kellar will co-host the event while auctioneer Don Fleming keeps the evening moving in his usual entertaining style.

FITE Program Awarded California Crime Prevention Program of the Year
The City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Valley’s Sheriff Station received the prestigious California Crime Prevention Program of the Year award by the California Crime Prevention Officer’s Association for its unique Fraud and Identity Theft Education (FITE) Program. The annual California Crime Prevention Officer’s Association conference was hosted at the Omni San Diego Hotel on September 5th.

Mike Berger Honored by Zonta as “Wall Street Peddler”
Michael Berger, Santa Clarita Valley Man of the Year 2006, will take on the new title of “Wall Street Peddler” as honoree in the 2007 Celebrity Tribute hosted by Zonta Club of the Santa Clarita Valley. This year’s event is planned for Friday, November 2, at the Odyssey Restaurant in Mission Hills.

The Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry 14th Annual Run Against Hunger 5K Run/Walk, sponsored by Bayless Engineering and Manufacturing and The Signal is scheduled for Sunday, October 28, 2007. This 5K run and fun walk is open to participants of all ages and features awards, three deep, in all divisions as well as prizes for male and female overall winners.
