The Pursuit of Excellence
Dr. Fellows, a native of Illinois, studied in both the Midwest and Southern California. He graduated magna cum laude with a psychobiology major from the University of Southern California. He then earned his medical degree from the prestigious Northwestern University in Chicago. After a five-year general surgery residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, he returned to the University of California Los Angeles’s renowned program to complete his plastic and reconstructive surgery residency. His skill and passion for his profession is apparent as UCLA extends this honor to only three surgical residents per year.
A Healthy Glow
Let’s daydream for a minute and think back to our teenage years. Now look in the mirror. What do you see? Smooth skin and glowing cheeks — the face of a baby. What was your skin regimen back then? Did you cleanse with Noxzema like me or maybe you were fascinated by the new Stridex pads. Sadly we had no idea how we would long for the days when we didn’t worry about wrinkles, worry lines or enlarged pores. Back then a small pimple seemed like a big deal!
Colon Hydrotherapy – Your First Session
If you are considering having a colon hydrotherapy session, cleansing the colon of unwanted toxins is a very rewarding experience. I am sure that there are many questions you may want answered, so I thought it best to explain briefly what takes place during a colon hydrotherapy session.
Upon arriving to your first colon hydrotherapy session, the receptionist will ask you to complete a Health Questionnaire. You will then be escorted by a certified Colon Hydrotherapist to a Colon Hydrotherapy room.

Why Weight Loss Surgery Worked for Me
When you are ready to take control of your life and move on to being happy and healthy, weight loss surgery at Weight Loss Centers is a great option. It has changed my life on so many levels. I will tell you what my turning point was — I was on vacation in San Diego with my two-and-a-half-year-old son. We where at one of the major amusement parks and I was in line to get on the ride with him, you see, he was too small to ride by himself and I was too big to ride with him. My sister had to get on the ride with my son so he could experience it.
State-of-the-Art Cataract Surgery Looking for Perfection Are You?
Cataract and lens implantation surgery has advanced tremendously over the past decade and particularly over the past five years. As technology has advanced quickly it is imperative that physicians stay abreast of the latest developments. This enables us to offer our patients the best quality of vision possible. Ophthalmologists who became board certified since 1993 are required to re-qualify every 10 years to maintain board certification. This requires a minimum of 300 hours of continuing medical education in addition to passing a comprehensive examination.
Less Migraine Headaches By Tax Time?
What if you could be migraine free in just two months? And what if you could not only be migraine free, but you could also completely eliminate the use of medications? Wouldn’t that be wonderful? Here’s how that might be possible:
Using Affirmations in Daily Life
To affirm is to declare positively, to assert solemnly. An affirmation is the assertion of the truth or existence of something. Now, let’s have a look at our inner dialogue. What is our inner dialogue about? Is it about worries, fears, lack, doomsday scenarios, or do we override the negative with positive ideas, dreams and statements?
Frequent questions and Answers From the ADA
Among the dentist’s recommendations, which treatments are absolutely necessary? Which are elective? Which are cosmetic? Which procedures are urgently needed, and which ones are less urgent?
Your dentist should be able to prioritize a treatment schedule to help you distinguish problems needing immediate attention from those that are less urgent. Often, treatment can be phased in over time. Be sure you understand the consequences of delaying treatment.
Congestion, Swelling and Pain of the Eye
Congestion, swelling and pain of the eye is an acute condition in various external eye disorders.
This condition is mostly due to exogenous pathogenic wind heat causing obstruction of qi circulation in the meridian, or due to preponderance of fire in liver and gallbladder, which flares up along the related meridians, causing qi stagnation and blood stasis in the meridians.
The Click of Your Heart
“I didn’t hear the click, doctor. I didn’t hear it for two weeks,” my patient proudly confided in me. “Two weeks? Why didn’t you call me? Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked. “Oh, I just thought the click would come back; no problem right, doctor? I’ll be ok, right Dr. K?”
Seven years ago my patient had a major heart attack and was diagnosed with severe coronary artery disease (blockage of heart arteries). He also had aortic regurgitation (leaky heart valve). He underwent bypass and valve replacement. The valve was mechanical (metal), and our patient required blood thinners indefinitely to prevent clots from forming on the valve.
Free Yourself from Acne
In my experience, few other dermatological conditions are surrounded by more myths and misconceptions than acne. Variously called “teen acne,” “adult acne,” “zits,” pimples or more technically, acne vulgaris, acne is one of the most common problems seen in any corrective skincare business. While not life threatening, it has long been the cause of considerable emotional and physical suffering for millions of people. The scarring that may result from uncontrolled, severe acne can adversely affect the quality of a person’s life well after its active stages have disappeared. Acne is nothing to joke about. The embarrassment and loss of self-esteem caused by acne and acne scarring can be very serious.
Tips on Running Shoes
Choosing a running shoe is often a daunting task. There are so many to choose from, technology has evolved, and there are so many different features that play into the construction of a shoe. Many people buy based on how the shoe looks. This should be the last deciding factor once you select the right shoe for you and your foot type and activity. Many people try to find sales and try to get the best shoe for the least amount of money, an understandable strategy in these economic times, but can often get someone in the wrong shoe, and can contribute to injuries.
Spring Forward Again
What thoughts come to mind when you think of springtime? Warmer weather, birds singing, trees and flowers blooming? There is an upsurge of energy as everything moves upward and forward. There is an excitement in the air full of hope and promise. Have you ever considered how these external changes affect our body, physically and mentally?
What is Whiplash?
Whiplash is one of the most common injuries from auto accidents. This happens when the force of an impact “whips” the head violently in one direction beyond its normal limits, then violently back in the opposite direction. The result: muscles, tendons, and ligaments supporting the spine can be overstretched or torn. The spinal cord and delicate nerve endings in the neck can be stretched, pinched, and irritated. The soft, cushioning discs occupying the spaces between vertebrae (spinal bones) can herniate (bulge), or even rupture (tear). Symptoms of whiplash may take hours, days, or even weeks to appear.
Fear of Falling: A Senior’s Nightmare
I’m stunned by this statistic, but it’s true, falls are the leading cause of injury-related deaths among people aged 65 and over. The physical trauma resulting from a fall is certainly enough to kill a senior. But the psychological trauma is nearly as damaging, because once someone has fallen, whether or not they’ve been injured, there is always the fear they will fall again.
Untreated Hearing Loss May Lead to Isolation and Depression
Untreated hearing loss has serious emotional and social consequences for older persons, including depression, according to a large-scale study by the National Council on Aging (NCOA).
Although the study was released almost a decade ago, it remains a classic in debunking “the myth that hearing loss in older persons is a harmless condition,” according to Dr. Firman, president and CEO of the council.
Can Acupuncture and Herbs Treat Arthritis?
There are many painful and chronic conditions that acupuncture can treat. The use of acupuncture to naturally relieve pain is well established in America. A recent study led by Brian Berman, director of the University of Maryland Center for Integrative Medicine, and published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, found that acupuncture is safe and effective for reducing pain and improving physical function in those suffering from arthritis.
