Results Fitness supported the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center and Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October by donating $1 from every “Pink Shake” sold during the month of October plus the sale of “Pink Ribbon” lapel pins added to the donation to the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 

The check, presented Friday, October 22, at the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) office located inside the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center, will support the SBDC’s ongoing mission to provide free technical assistance and training to prospective and existing small business owners and entrepreneurs.

On November 7, Judy Larson embellished guests’ limited edition canvas purchases at no charge. It was a great turn out and many of Larson’s fans attended to meet her, watch her work, and see a wide selection of her pieces.

New Orleans was the destination for the National Assistance League’s 2010 Conference.
Eight members from the Santa Clarita Chapter joined 850 other Assistance League members from across the United States in the Big Easy. The conference was held September 12-16 at the Sheraton New Orleans.

It was a night of dinner, fun costumes, and choral singing at the Valencia Hyatt on Sunday, November 14. The Santa Clarita Master Chorale rocked the house when they performed show tunes from, The Sound of Music, South Pacific, Cinderella, Oklahoma and more. A highlight of the evening was when pianist Jan Sanborn played her arrangement of My Funny Valentine.

He is a true inspiration and pleasure to be around.  His presence and advice encourage you to stand up and make a change in your daily life.  His name is Dr. Sam Kojoglanian and he is the Mender of Hearts!
I have had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Sam, also known as Dr. Rap, speak and no matter how many times I do, he still finds ways to creatively inspire and promote heart health. 

Around 400 guests attended Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Guild’s 26th Annual Fashion Show held on Sunday, October 10 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel.

On Sunday, October 10, the “healers” from the Reconnective Healing ® program in Los Angeles came and visited Santa Clarita’s Gentle Barn.  The Reconnective Healing practitioners arrived to help give animals a second chance. Ellie Laks, founder of the Gentle Barn abused animal refuge, called it a “miracle.”

The Samuel Dixon Family Health Center’s 8th Annual Rubber Ducky Regatta took place on Saturday, October 16 at Castaic Lake.  It was a beautiful day as eventgoers enjoyed food and music as well as games for the whole family. 

Thousands of adults and kids enjoyed the day at Golden Valley High School on Sunday, October 17 at the2010 Kids Expo, What’s Cool For Kids in the SCV.  Sylvester and Tweety Bird made special appearances throughout the day and kids, while many kids enjoyed special performances, arts and crafts and fun exhibits.

Selling a whooping 500 tickets, the Los Angeles Residential Community, better known as LARC Ranch, put on a wonderful celebration on Sunday, October 10.  This year’s Western Round-Up was a delightful afternoon filled with a wild-west showdown “The Code of the West,” by Western Reenactors, delicious food great friends.

Santa Clarita is the true calling of the Santa Clarita Artist Association ‘s “Art Classic” held on Sunday, October 17.  More than 100 pieces of visual art were on exhibit which included: watercolors, oils, acrylics, still life, portraits, animals and bird paintings, landscapes, abstracts, collages, mixed media, photography, etchings and sculptures.

The Valencia Flyers certainly flew all over the ice on Friday, October 1 at the Ice Station in their match-up against the Idaho Jr. Steelheads.  Though the flyers were defeated 4-1 that night, their drive pushed them forward to most recently defeat the Bakersfield Jr. Condors.

It was an evening of entertainment at the D’Wilfri Spectacular “Movies Dance Tribute” Showdance 2010.  Dancers graced the stage on Saturday, October 2, at the beautiful Valencia Hyatt, while guests enjoyed a sumptuous dinner.  

It was another wonderful turn out and fabulous afternoon for the Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley ladies at Bras for a Cause on Sunday, October 3.  The Oaks Grille was transformed into a heavenly wonderland of beautifully designed bras and luxurious gifts for auction.  Guests enjoyed scrumptious appetizers and delicious wine choices as they viewed the bras and auction items.

It was an all-around awesome time on Friday, October 15.  The Awesometown Gourmet Food Truck Festival featured 22 food truck vendors at the Bridgeport Marketplace in Valencia.

On Saturday, September 25, hundreds came to show their support at the 17th annual Evening Under the Stars Gala Dinner and Auction at the beautiful Mann Biomedical Park.  Guests enjoyed an evening of delicious foods from Salt Creek Grille, while sipping on some drinks from the special martini bar, courtesy of The Social.

On Thursday, October 21, there was a great turnout for the ribbon cutting and dedication for Santa Clarita Health Center/Northeast Valley Health Corporation located at 18533 Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country in the Albertson’s Shopping Center.
