Why do cosmetic ads use young models?  Clear, healthy skin.  Good skin is easy to photograph and can be shot close up for the most intense, romantic photographs. Invest some of your wedding budget in cleansing and exfoliating facial treatments such as glycolic or salicylic acid and lots of moisturizer!  Keep the skin moist 24 hours a day.  Toss old makeup and use clean tools and disposable sponges.
Base Coverage — What is the purpose of foundation and powder?

Its sole reason for existing is to even out the skin tone, not to change the shade of the skin.

I use a highlighting concealer (Studio Essentials Picture Perfect) to smooth imperfections first, then go in with base and or powder, which is always minimal. Apply five dots of base, forehead, nose, cheeks and chin, then blend and use no more than that. Top it off with powder applied with a large powder brush.  Always blend onto the décolleté (chest area). Stop before you have too much coverage!  Who wants to see a mask-like, fake look up close?  Not the groom and not the guests. Always keep it clean and fresh.

Key Points — Specifically-placed highlighting lifts and brings forward the features, making the bone structure look more prominent and focusing attention on the eyes in the shot.  Highlights should be directed to the upper part of cheekbones, above brows , nose and chin.  To get this look, study beauty and fashion magazine covers, look for the highlighted parts and you will begin to see how this creates flawless beauty. Invest in a makeup lesson with a makeup artist who has had extensive experience with camera work, let them show you where the highlights should be placed.

Classic Makeup — Although hip, new fashion makeup looks are fun and exciting, save the trendy stuff for the reception and honeymoon.  Bride’s makeup must be of star quality and timeless.
Years from now you want to look in your album and see a classic beauty.Think Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, timeless, stunning and perfect.
Arched brows.  Chiseled cheekbones.  Neutral makeup.  “Hollywood Star” liner.  Precisely-shaped lips in a classic shade.

Lashes — After working with hundreds of brides, we have found that faux lashes are a must for most brides, why, you ask?
Lashes give a finished, A-list look to the face , lifting and opening the eyes.  They look great from all angles!
How to choose?
Eyelash strips work well to open the eyes and last for hours when properly applied.
Individual lashes are the best choice for a little “lift” in the corners, or for those who are not tolerant to the feel of lashes.
Always try the lashes on before the big day and wear them for a few hours.  Use the same lashes for the wedding day because they will have formed better to the shape of your eye.

The best bridal beauty secret … keep smiling!
