Nothing is more helpful than a positive support group and nothing is more damaging than constant negative reinforcement from friends and family members.  It’s very important to keep our distance from those who we know are not in our corner cheering us on.

The positive people in our lives are our allies, who’ve encouraged us to pursue our dreams, no matter what.  They are true angels, inspiring us to live to the best of our ability.  The positive people are those who treat us the way we have imagined ourselves to be at our very best.

What if the people we truly care about are constantly negative toward us,especially when we feel we are on the verge of accomplishing great things?  Why do they appear to be doing everything in their power to sabotage us?

We must remember that they are simply projecting their own fears and feelings of inadequacy our way.  If we succeed and they don’t, where does that leave them?  Odd behavior from those who say they care about us.  Understand what the behavior is and think of it as a precious gift.  Yes, you heard me correctly.  A beautiful gift wrapped in colorful paper and tied with a big shiny purple ribbon.  Their ongoing negativity is probably affecting us because they are uncovering some of our hidden fears.  We have the option to accept their gift of negativity and use it to strengthen our convictions, build our self-confidence and lead by example.  If we lead, they will follow or fall away.

Let’s make the adjustments necessary to reduce or eliminate our contact with non-supportive individuals.  And remember to celebrate our allies by showing gratitude and appreciation for their on going support.  We know how important it is to have them in our corner, cheering us on.
