Far too often we look back over our lives with a feeling of regret.  We look back over past events, things that we cannot do anything about, and we begin to beat ourselves up by asking a series of “why” questions.  Why didn’t I just do this?  Why did I do that?  These questions often leave us so focused on the past that the hope and joy that we should be experiencing because of the future becomes clouded. As a result, we make the mistake of judging our future based on our past.  We feel like if the past had been different then somehow the future would be brighter.  However, the fact of the matter is that you cannot judge your future based on your past.  Just because it didn’t go the way you would have liked it to go in the past does not mean the future is limited.  Sure you would have liked to finish school first or waited longer before jumping into a particular situation, but regardless of what the past has been like your best days can still be ahead of you.

The future can be brighter than you ever imagined.  The future can be brighter than you envisioned if only everything gone the way you wanted it to go in the past.  How can I be so sure?  Because I know for a fact that God can help you begin again.  For many of us, that’s all we need to do.  Begin again.  Make up in your mind that the past may have gone one way, but today is going to be the beginning of everything in your life going a different way.  It may not have worked out the way that I wanted it to in the past, but I’m getting ready to begin again.  I am certain my future will be greater.  I may not have done everything that I wanted to do in the past, but I’m getting ready to begin again.  From this day forward, don’t worry about past failures, past mistakes, past relationships that turned bad, past financial errors, past bad ideas, past bad decisions, or past discouragements, just begin again.  Don’t cry another day because of your past.  Smile because of your future.  Today is a new day.  Begin again!
