Relay For Life is celebrating 22 years of raising funds and awareness to fight cancer. This year's theme is SPACE so bring the kids for a fun and friendly good time and check out the amazing decorated campsites our teams will have.

We kick things off with a 5K at 8 am (scvrelay5k.org). Our opening ceremony commences at 10 am, where we honor cancer survivors and caregivers. Throughout the day there will be food, live entertainment and activities for all ages. As the sun sets, bags begin lining the field as we get ready for a powerfully moving luminaria ceremony to remember loved ones lost.

The 37th Annual California Strawberry Festival is the perfect time to indulge in all things strawberry--chocolate dipped strawberries, strawberry margaritas, strawberry pizza, strawberry nachos and dozens of other strawberry treats at the two-day festival, Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17 at Strawberry Meadows/College Park in Oxnard (3250 South Rose Ave.). Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., both days. Strawberry-themed food and drink from over 50 vendors will be available as well as just-picked strawberries from surrounding farms. Festivalgoers can take part in strawberry shortcake eating contests, strawberry tart tosses and other free contests. An estimated 1.5 million strawberries will be eaten during the festival. The two days also feature a vendor marketplace, live music on three outdoor stages, strawberry-themed cooking demonstrations and contests and kids' rides and entertainment in Strawberryland. Since its inception, the California Strawberry Festival has donated over $4.5 million to southern California charitable organizations. A free shuttle service to the festival is available ($10 to park onsite). Admission: adults, $12, active military/seniors (62+), $8, kids (5 to 12), $5, ages 4 and under, free.
