Permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing is the process which sterile hypoallergenic cosmetic pigments are placed under the dermal layer of the skin using single use individual disposable sterile needles. The areas to be treated are numbed using topical anesthetics to make your experience painless and comfortable.
Permanent cosmetics is perfect for the busy person/professional who has little to no time to apply conventional makeup, those who like to wake up with a fresh natural look, eyebrow symmetry, the athlete who wants to look natural, Alopecia sufferers, those with medical conditions that cause their hands to shake, areola re-pigmentation after breast reconstruction/cancer, vision problems, or those that have allergic reactions to over the counter makeup products, but mostly for convenience!
For the last several years, “feather stroke” or “hair Stroke” technique is becoming more common and popular in the permanent makeup industry. The pigment chosen by the client and the technician prior to the application is implanted into the skin based on the hair growing direction and the shape looks like the client’s hair appearance blended with the base natural hair.
Usually, permanent makeup pigments will get softened or faded in color over time, typically one to seven years. The natural elements, anti-aging creams, sun exposure, sweating, tanning beds and just age of the permanent makeup, without question, will fade in time. It is recommended to get color boosts to freshen up the permanent makeup to maintain its natural look on a regular basis, depending on the client’s preference.
Especially, “Feather Stroke” technique will require color boosts more often to maintain the natural appearance. It is universal in all permanent makeup applications since the aging of our skin and tissue will affect the appearance of your permanent makeup.
Healing time varies from person to person, but it usually takes up to four to seven days. Due to comparably faster recoup rather than cosmetic surgeries, lots of clients take advantage of their summer break or even weekends boost their natural beauty. With proper topical anesthetics & numbing, any possible discomforts such as swelling, bleeding, bruising, pain will be very minimal.
The client should follow given aftercare instructions including the application of Vaseline and/or any over-the-counter antibiotic ointment. The treated area will begin to soften/lighten up within three to 30 days, and it is recommended to have your touch-up appointment any time four to eight weeks following the original procedure. Then every several years for color boost.
