The 2nd Annual Miss West Coast Pageant
On August 29, the 2nd Annual Miss West Coast Pageant took place at the Morgan-Wixson Theatre in Santa Monica, CA. There were over 400 attendees and 90 girls throughout California who competed for the title of Miss West Coast making it one of the largest pageants in California. There were 9 titles and 18 awards including People’s Choice Award given to the contestant with the most votes on www.misswestcoastpageant.com, donations benefitting nonprofit Operation Blankets of Love. In the Jr Miss age category Rachel Deangelis was blessed to be crowned the first Jr. Miss West Coast, Brooke Besikov was crowned Jr. Miss South Bay and Helena Assis was crowned Jr. Miss Princess. Later in the evening many others were crowned including Valencia local residents Amanda Larsson-Dally Miss West Coast USA and Shalini Quattlebaum crowned Miss South Bay USA. In the Teen age category Jessica Duhay was crowned Miss West Coast Teen USA, Berkley Velez Miss South Bay Teen USA, Athena Fleming Miss West Coast and Sharelle Hall Miss South Bay. Jessica Duhay and Berkley Velez will be competing for Miss California Teen USA in Dec. 2015. Local residents Amanda Larsson-Dally and Shalini Quattlebaum will both be competing for Miss California USA in Dec. 2015 with hopes of becoming the next Miss USA!
Some of the judges included Maurice Rinaldi (International fashion and celebrity photographer), Sabrina Chu-Hurd (agent for Peak Models and Talent), Melissa Ann Luiso (Mrs. New York America and Autism Advocate), Katarina Van Derham (Top Model & Editor of Viva Glam Magazine), and William Romeo (Actor and former American Gladiator) and Bobbie Shaw Chance (Hollywood legend acting coach). Tara Rice also a local Valencia resident is the Founder and Director of the Miss West Coast Pageant who has over two decades of experience in the entertainment industry and pageantry. She has held state titles including Miss California Teen All American and has even appeared in more than 30 National commercials. Rice states, “I love inspiring teens and young women who participate in my pageant productions to become young leaders in their communities. Rice has produced more than 12 pageants and fashion shows in Los Angeles including The Annual Soroptimist International Greater Santa Clarita Fashion Show. Brittany Wagner who has won over 60 different titles and is currently Miss California United States helped coach the girls participating in the Miss West Coast Pageant. Valencia Local businesses that sponsor the Miss West Coast Pageant are Santa Clarita School of Performing Arts, Steve’s Valencia Florist, Rebbeca Li, Manya Jewelers and Blingity Bling.
