The Importance of Consultations in the Spa
A thorough consultation before receiving any treatment or service at a spa or med spa is not only a good idea, but it should be mandatory. During a meeting the client is encouraged to ask questions they might have about treatments, plus it gives them the opportunity to get to know the therapist and determine the level of expertise and experience that they have. It is also a good way to achieve a level of comfort with the person who will be treating you.
Before or during the consultation, you will be asked to fill out a short medical history and to provide information about medications, both oral and topical, that you might be using at the time. This is very important as some circumstances might be contraindicated to the products or procedures used in the med spa. Many people are allergic to certain drugs and it is imperative that the medical professional be aware of any of these allergies.
Along with allergies, some medical conditions and pregnancy might prevent you from receiving med spa services, and sometimes regular spa treatments such as certain facials and massages. If you are not asked to give some basic medical information the first time that you visit a spa, you are not being protected from possible problems. Some massage oils and creams, for example, may cause allergic reactions in people who have allergies to some nuts, herbs, or vegetables. People who are allergic to shell fish often have reactions to products that contain algae or kelp. These are just a few of the potential problems that could arise if you are not informed.
In short, an educated client is a satisfied client. Beyond Harmony Med Spa takes every precaution against causing any harm. We hold free symposiums regularly to educate our clients in all aspects of the treatments and services that we offer and the public is always invited to attend.
