Lash Perm or Lash Extensions
Eyelash perming is a 45 to 60-minute process. Your natural lashes are curled with silicone rods or special lash curler. Unlike the crimp of a lash curler, perming curls lashes with a more natural look semi-permanently. The curl lasts about 4 weeks depending on your lash growth and curl. Usually, the service is combined with lash tinting to darken the lash hair to a jet black which gives the lashes the appearance of more length and fullness. It lasts about four weeks and fades out.
If you are looking to make the most of your natural lash, you can use any lash growing conditioner to “beef up” your lashes instead of extensions, and then do perming and tinting. If you are looking for another option instead of tinting, you can opt for semi-permanent mascara, which lasts four to six weeks.
Lash perming is made for the low maintenance client. Busy moms, athletic gals, working gals, students really anyone who hates curling their lashes or just need a quick eye lift. The most you’re out is $45 and an hour of your time. Lashes grow out so zero harm.
The biggest concern about lash extensions is that they might cause your natural lashes to stop growing or fall out faster than the normal rate.
However, if your natural lashes are on the shorter, thinner and/or downward side, you won’t be able to get a crazy, dramatic Kim Kardashian look, because it won’t last.
There are three types of lash extensions: synthetic (silk), mink, and velvet. Size availability ranges from 6mm to 17mm. Once selected, the lashes are applied one at a time using a specially formulated, semi-permanent glue that will not irritate the eye nor damage the natural lash. However, since allergic reactions are possible, there are different types of glue based on one’s sensitivity.
Applying a full set of lashes takes 45 minutes, up to two hours and can be maintained year-round with touch-ups recommended every three to four weeks. People want all different kinds of looks — some people looking for dramatic looks would fit for Russian volume lashes, and some opt for more natural by a classic application, even with mink lashes to achieve a more feathery look and lighter touch.
In general, lash extensions are not made for the low maintenance, nor for the economic cost, but they are made for more dramatic effects.
