VelaSmooth Body Contouring
VelaSmooth is a non-invasive treatment for body contouring, firming and cellulite reduction. The VelaSmooth device combines light energy, radio frequency and gentle vacuum suction to improve the appearance of the skin. Reduction in circumferential measurement may also be achieved in most cases. Improvement of skin circulation and heat application can also help ease muscle aches and promote relaxation similar to massage.
The application of this light energy and radio frequency to the hypodermis is intended to deploy heat to the adipose tissue (fatty layer) contributing to cellulite. The hyperthermic effect on these fat cells increases the metabolism of stored energy (lipolsis), thereby reducing or shrinking the size of the actual fat chamber. Shrinkage of the fat chamber reduces the bumpiness of skin, which is caused by distended fat cells protruding up from the anchored connective tissue which supports the hypodermis.
The mechanical actions of rollers in the vacuum hand piece gently knead the skin and facilitate deeper penetration of heat to the hypodermis. This may also stretch the connective tissue temporarily giving the skin surface a smoother appearance as early as 4 treatments. The negative pressure or suction that is applied to the skin dilates the blood vessels and improves local circulation to the skin.
The difference between this treatment and Endermologie is that Endermologie requires the client to wear a stretch garment during the session to help facilitate its effectiveness. VelaSmooth application is done directly to the skin in order for the infrared light to penetrate more deeply. Depth of heat from the light source is 5mm and from the radio frequency is between 5-10mm. Maximum vacuum level applies 750mm Hg of negative pressure.
