Celebrating The Pacific Islands
May is a month full of celebration. Not only are we celebrating our Mothers we are celebrating the Islands of the Pacific. This year, Kalakeke Pacific Island Dance Company is hosting the 3rd annual Santa Clarita Valley Pacific Islander Festival! The festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday May 7th and 8th at William S. Hart Park in Newhall in conjunction with L.A County Department of Parks and Recreation and the Friends of Hart Park. This festival is a celebration of all Pacific Islander Culture and Arts. Guests and participants get to enjoy live Pacific Islander music and dance performances by guest artists, musicians and dance groups from our community and Southern California. Food vendors will also be available during the event selling Hawaiian BBQ, Island Smoothies, Hawaiian Shaved Ice, Asian Cuisine, and a variety of other “Ono” (delicious) things to eat. Merchandise vendors will be offering beautiful pacific island crafts, jewelry, clothing, decoration and much more. In celebration of Mother’s Day, every mother who visits the Pacific Islander Festival on Sunday, May 8th will be offered a free opportunity drawing ticket to possibly win a gift from our vendors. As Santa Clarita Valley’s local Pacific island Dance Group, Kalakeke Pacific Island Dance Company is humbled and blessed to share the beautiful Pacific Islander culture with the community. It will be an event you do not want to miss. The SCV Pacific Islander Festival not only is a Celebration but a way to support our community. The money raised each year goes to support the event as well as the ongoing efforts by the Friends of Hart Park and Museum to help maintain our beautiful park, museum, artifacts and animals. Parking will be available at the park, The Metrolink parking area as well as the neighboring area. Parking proceeds within the park will benefit the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society and our local Boy Scouts. We also offer Volunteer Opportunities.
